Swirls and Photobombs

CAMPBELL AND LOS GATOS

By Leslie Moniz

Destination: Campbell to Los Gatos.
When: A warm afternoon will suffice.
Be prepared: For a long day of semi-strenuous ‘activity.
Cash factor: Moderate to Light (you may need a few loose dollars for the park vendors).

Pick up your date and make sure they are dressed comfortably for this glorious excursion. Head over to Tread Bikes in Campbell where you can rent a couple beach cruisers (make sure they have cup holders!) and start your leisurely/athletic journey from quaint downtown Campbell to the shop-lined streets of Los Gatos. (*Be sure to take the Los Gatos Creek trail through Vasona Park instead of the trail that requires mountain bikes and strenuous activity — let’s save that trail for a different type of date.) To begin your journey, stop in Campbell for an iced Swirl cocktail at Aqui’s. If you want to grab a bite to fuel up too, there are lots of delicious restaurants with outdoor patios so you can keep an eye on your new prized rented possessions. Choose a place then hop back on your bikes and head towards Vasona Park. Once you arrive, take a quick selfie by the lake. If you’re lucky, you might get a duck, dog, or horse to photobomb, so keep an eye out for the “wildlife.” Continue into downtown Los Gatos and grab some gelato at Dolce Spazio. Then hop on your “hogs” and head to the fountain and enjoy.  (Get outside)
