I should have been a Cowboy

BERKELEY

By Leslie Moniz

Where: Golden Gate Fields.
When: Sundays.
You’ll need to wear: Dress attire and an oversized hat.
Cash factor: Lots.

Getting antsy about the weekend ending and having the Monday blues? Grab your derby hats and horse race attire and head to Golden Gate Fields for dollar day Sundays. No one can turn down a little competition and this date is sure to include barrel of laughs. This isn’t your typical, ‘miniature golf’ type of competition. This is a day for dressing up and doing something out of your ordinary ‘brunch and mimosa’ date. When you arrive at Golden Gate Fields, grab a racing program, close your eyes and randomly pick a horse you think will hit that million dollar jackpot! (remember, it is only one dollar you’re throwing away). Then, sit back and watch your horses go at it. Want to up the ante? Whoever loses has to buy lunch at The Circle Bar, where hot links and nachos are great indication that your date is in it for the long haul and isn’t your typical ‘salad without dressing’ type of girl!
