Finally Fog-Free? Head Here

MUIR BEACH

By Nicole Honchariw

The destination: Muir Beach.
When: Wait for a genuinely warm, sunny day for this sandy trip.
What you need in your beach bag: Snacks, a big beach-safe blanket, towels, a Frisbee.
Cash factor: Low to moderate.

While many Bay Area ladies have spent a day or two getting their wanderlust on in Muir Woods, few have spent time at the clandestine Muir Beach. Closer to the Golden Gate Bridge than its larger neighbor, Stinson, Muir Beach is a gorgeous enclave tucked into the cliffs. Swing through Mill Valley on your way in to grab some provisions at the Whole Foods on East Blithedale, and enjoy a proper picnic on the white sand (extra points awarded to the gents who pack crowd favorites like cornhole or Nerf footballs). On your way out, stop by The Pelican Inn, a funky old English style B&B whose drinks pack a punch and whose vibe will only fuel further conversation. Just be mindful of overindulging; you have some windy roads home ahead of you.
