WALNUT CREEK

WhereWalnut Creek Yacht Club.
When: Happy hour Monday-Friday (3 – 6 p.m.)
Your date will love: The nautical theme (she may even bring her own binoculars).
Cash factor: Trends moderate to high.

When’s the happiest hour of the day? Happy hour, of course! (or, in this case, happy 3 hours). Walnut Creek Yacht Club has a beautiful décor combining nautical touches, such as mahogany, teak (for those who don’t know- it’s the hard, durable timber used in shipbuilding) and even an authentic jib. They have also been voted Best Seafood Restaurant in the East Bay by Diablo Magazine (Did we mention this has been for 12 years? You know, no big deal).

Sit on the peaceful back patio and order some tasty appetizers. Swagoo Girls recommend the oysters from the raw bar (no, not because they’re aphrodisiacs- just because they’re mouth-wateringly awesome) such as the popular Blue Point from Connecticut or the Point Reyes from Tamales Bay.

Transport to earlier eras as you sip on their signature classic cocktails, such as the charred oak barrel Real McCoy 3-year Silver Rum-based “Calypso” or the Cruzano Platino Rum and Redemption Rye “Twelve Mile Limit” (circa 1934), depending on your alcohol preference. Whatever you decide on, you’re sure to enjoy a delicious meal and a beautiful view (not only of your surroundings, but of your lovely date, of course).

Sky’s the limit, here. Well, more like the sea’s the limit.
