NOVATO

By Nicole Honchariw

Place: Wildfox Restaurant.
Where: Novato.
When: Weeknight evenings for dinner or weekend afternoons for post-outdoor adventure snacks.
Really? Novato?: Yes. Don’t question it again.
Cash factor: Light (hello, Happy Hour,) to moderate.

There’s something a bit Bond-like about turning your dinner plans into a true destination, and Novato is tucked far enough away from the hustle of the city to feel like a svelte escape. And who doesn’t like an escape in the form of a spacious, swanky lodge with a tastefully diverse menu (featuring, among other mouth-watering bites, wood fired pizza?) Wildfox Restaurant is your new go-to when looking for a fantastic meal in a new environment. And on a golden evening, there’s nothing more Californian than dining in the sun-drenched oak covered hills. Doing a day date? Head to Wildfox after perusing the Marin County Farmer’s Market and soak up the warmth on the terrace, where Happy Hour goes from 3-6 p.m., seven days a week. Not that your date needs to know their delicious pizza is half-off. Bond-like, remember? What they don’t know, won’t kill them.
